Sush’s Poppy Seed Cake
Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teas baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 TAB poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teas vanilla
  • 1 1/2 teas almond extract
  • Glaze: (opt.)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 teas almond extract
  • 1/2 teas vanilla
Instructions
  1. Combine oil and sugar,
  2. Beat in eggs.
  3. Add the extracts
  4. Then dry ingredients and milk.
  5. Add poppy seeds last.
  6. Bake in a large bundt pan or 2 smaller ones at 350 for an hour.
  7. For glaze mix ingredients in saucepan and heat until sugar dissolves.
  8. Stir constantly until smooth.
  9. Pour over warm (but not hot) cake.
