Chocolate Ribbon Cake
Ingredients
  • Ribbon Mixture:
  • 2 TAB butter
  • 8 oz pkg cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 TAB cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 2 TAB milk
  • 1 teas vanilla
  • Cake Batter:
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 squares pre-melted baking chocolate
  • 1 teas vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teas baking powder
  • 1/2 teas baking soda
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
Instructions
  1. Make Ribbon Mixture
  2. Cream the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla
  3. Mix in cornstarch
  4. Mix in egg
  5. Add Milk
  6. set aside.
  7. For cake batter, cream butter and sugar,
  8. add eggs and
  9. then melted chocolate.
  10. Add milk alternately with the dry ingredients.
  11. Spread half of batter in greased 13 x 9 pan.
  12. Spoon ribbon mixture over batter, top with remaining cake batter.
  13. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or til done.
  14. Cool and frost.
Notes

You can make this recipe as a plain chocolate cake without the ribbon mixture if you want. It can be done in 2 9 inch pans as well.

This is the chocolate cake we use (again without the ribbon) for wedding cakes.
