| Chocolate Ribbon Cake |
Ingredients
- Ribbon Mixture:
- 2 TAB butter
- 8 oz pkg cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 TAB cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 2 TAB milk
- 1 teas vanilla
- Cake Batter:
- 1 stick butter or margarine
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4 squares pre-melted baking chocolate
- 1 teas vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teas baking powder
- 1/2 teas baking soda
- 1 1/3 cups milk
Instructions
- Make Ribbon Mixture
- Cream the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla
- Mix in cornstarch
- Mix in egg
- Add Milk
- set aside.
- For cake batter, cream butter and sugar,
- add eggs and
- then melted chocolate.
- Add milk alternately with the dry ingredients.
- Spread half of batter in greased 13 x 9 pan.
- Spoon ribbon mixture over batter, top with remaining cake batter.
- Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or til done.
- Cool and frost.
Notes
You can make this recipe as a plain chocolate cake without the ribbon mixture if you want. It can be done in 2 9 inch pans as well.
This is the chocolate cake we use (again without the ribbon) for wedding cakes.
