Butter Cookies

Ingredients
  • 4 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 3/4 teas. salt (opt.)
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 teas. vanilla
  • 4 2/3 cups flour
Instructions
  1. Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and salt
  2. Beat in egg yolks one at a time, until smooth
  3. Beat in flour gradually, until just combined
  4. Roll dough on floured board and cut into shapes.
  5. Decorate with sugar before baking or frost afterwards.
  6. Dough can be chilled before rolling.
Notes

Save the egg whites for meringues.
