Boston Baked Beans
Ingredients
  • 2 cups pea beans (smallest white beans)
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1 small onion cut up
  • 2 teas dry mustard
  • 3 TAB white or cider vinegar
  • 3 TAB molasses
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
Instructions
  1. Wash and pick over beans and soak overnight.
  2. In the morning drain and boil in fresh water until skins begin to burst. If you forget to soak overnight just boil for longer.
  3. Place in bean pot with the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Bake at 300 for 5 hours or in the oven with a brisket.
  5. If baking with brisket add fat skimmed from the top of the brisket as it bakes.
  6. In any case also add water if beans are looking too dry as they bake.

Naomi made this recipe a lot when we were little. She had an actual baked bean pot.
