| French Bread |
Ingredients
- 2 TAB yeast
- 1 TAB sugar
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 6 cups bread flour
- cornmeal
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water, let sit til bubbly.
- Meanwhile grease bread pans and sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Add yeast mixture to 6 cups bread flour.
- If Dry add more water. If moist add flour.
- Pour a little oil over mixture and cover and put in warm oven to rise about 1 1/2 hrs.
- Punch down, knead and form two loaves.
- Cover and let rise again.
- with knife sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Preheat oven to 400 with a pan of water in it.
- Bake bread for 35-40 minutes.
- Cool on a rack.
